Russia’s invasion of Ukraine recently has shook the world as tensions continue to rise. The invasion has already resulted in numerous casualties from both sides. The situation continues to escalate and many people fear the worst right now. It seems even more celebrities are taking up arms in their fight against Russia.
Many volunteers have taken up arms to defend their country, including former Miss Ukraine Anastasiia Lenna. Lenna, who won the Miss Ukraine pageant in 2015, had recently revealed she is doing whatever she can to defend her country.
According to TMZ, Vasyl Lomachenko, who is considered the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world right now, has also taken up arms in order to defend his country against the Russian invaders.
The 34-year-old former champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist could be seen holding an M16 while dressed in fatigues near his hometown over the weekend.
In a post on his Facebook, the boxer’s representatives uploaded a photo of Lomachenko with the caption, “The Bilgorod-Dnistrovsky Battalion of Territorial Defense is formed and armed.”
It was said that the boxer traveled to his home country right after Russia invaded last week, as he joined former star boxers Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko in the fight.
Lomachenko is also merely a couple of months away from his next fight, which will reportedly be against George Kambosos at the beginning of the summer.
