Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has baffled most of the civilized world. Russia’s army recently launched an unprovoked invasion that has been met with worldwide disapproval. Putin and his oligarch friends have complete control of the country in a dictatorship that should not be possible in a modern, connected world.

Putin rewards his friends with incredibly lucrative government contracts that guarantee them unimaginable wealth. One such oligarch is Putin’s military arms dealer, Alexander Mijeev. Mijeev has enjoyed an opulent life, including ownership of a luxury yacht in Spain’s Port Adriano. The military contractor has now joined Putin himself in having his yacht fall victim to anti-war sentiment.

On Saturday, one of Mijeev’s employees made a bold statement against the war. Taras Ostapchuk, a 55-year-old Ukrainian who worked as a mechanic on the yacht, admitted to sinking the vessel. The mechanic immediately turned himself into authorities and expressed no regret for his actions, according to the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

“I don’t regret anything I’ve done and I would do it again.

My boss is a criminal who sells weapons that kill the Ukrainian people.

I watched the news about the war. There was a video of a helicopter attack on a building in Kyiv. The armaments used are produced by the yacht owner’s company. They were attacking innocents.”

Taras Ostapchuk was released by authorities after being interviewed. Ostapchuk has since said he is heading back to Ukraine to take up arms. The brave Ukranian is hoping to deliver some revenge for what he sees as an attack on his innocent countrymen.
