Update: We have learned that Cain Velasquez was arrested after this shooting.
Original: Cain Velasquez had a nice career in the Octagon and a shorter career in the squared circle. Now he is making headlines for an entirely different reason.
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion and WWE Superstar, Cain Velasquez was reportedly involved in a shooting incident in San Jose. NBC Bay Area reports that sources close to the outlet told them some puzzling details.
Police told the outlet that only one man involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital and he suffered non-life threatening injuries. At the same time, another person involved in the altercation was arrested. It remains unclear what role Velasquez played in the shooting.
The shooting happened at 3:14 p.m. west coast time on Monday near the intersection of Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue. The wrestler was born in Salinas and reportedly lives in the South Bay.
Police have since advised the public to avoid this area, and many details regarding the shooting weren’t disclosed. This means we’ll learn about this as time passes.
Cain was a two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion; he won his first belt from Brock Lesnar in October, 2010. He acquired his second title from Junior dos Santos in December 2012. However, his WWE run was relatively short, and after being let go by WWE, he started wrestling for Lucha Libre AAA.
Stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated as soon as new information regarding this is available.
