Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was smacked into controversy after he had a run in with the law. As we previously reported, Cain was recently involved in a violent shooting incident. Now new reports shed light on the situation.
According to The Mercury News, on Tuesday evening Cain allegedly shot and injured the stepfather of Harry Eugene Goularte. Goularte was previously charged with molesting a close relative of Cain at a home daycare in San Martin, California that is run by Goularte’s mother.
Last Friday, Goularte was arraigned with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14. The judge granted Goularte a supervised release despite objections from the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
At around 3:15 p.m on Monday, Velasquez allegedly shot multiple rounds at a car carrying Goularte, his stepfather, and at least one other person. The stepfather was hit once and is expected to survive. Soon after the incident, Velasquez was picked up on suspicion of attempted murder.
Velasquez is currently being held at the Santa Clara County Main Jail without bail. Velasquez retired from the sport in 2019 and transitioned into professional wrestling. After working a few Lucha Libre AAA shows, he signed with WWE in 2019 and worked one match against Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel 2019, where he lost.
Details about the situation are still scarce. We will be on the lookout for more updates. Stay tuned to Thirsty.
