Kristin Cavallari Accused Of Ripping Off Jewelry Designs In New Lawsuit

Kristin Cavallari first rose to fame in 2004, as a cast member on the popular MTV reality television series, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. Kristin started her own line of jewelry company called Uncommon James and it seems like she landed herself in trouble regarding the same.

Kristin Cavallari is accused of stealing designs from a jewelry designer whose work has been worn by Michelle Obama and Angelina Jolie. Rachel Beth Katz is suing Kristin and her jewelry company Uncommon James for trademark and copyright infringement, according to court records acquired by Radar.

[Katz] designed and offered for sale two distinctive jewelry pieces, which are her “Diamond Dagger Ring” and her “Diamond Dagger Cuff.” Those pieces use her “Dagger Style” of jewelry design, which constitute the Designs protected by [Katz’s] registered trademarks and copyrights.

Taylor Swift, Charlize Theron, Kate Hudson, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Emma Stone, and Heidi Klum are among the celebrities that have worn the Diamond Dagger Ring. Scarlett Johansson and Amber Heard are among the celebrities that have worn the Diamond Dagger Cuff.

Katz further stated that Cavallari is a reality television personality who uses her celebrity image to market and sell her lines of merchandise including jewelry. Cavallari’s pieces, according to the lawsuit, are so poorly crafted that they have earned an abysmal overall “Two-Star” rating on Yelp.com from consumers who complain about the terrible quality of their jewelry and customer service given at their Los Angeles store.

Katz allegedly wrote Cavallari a letter in March 2021 at her Nashville home She provided her contact information and asked to be contacted. Cavallari allegedly ignored the letter and continued to sell the pieces, according to Katz. Cavallari is being sued for undisclosed damages as well as a part of the earnings made from the claimed counterfeit pieces.
