Bill Gates is one of the world’s wealthiest men. He made headlines when he announced that he and his wife Melinda will be separating, ending their 27-year marriage. However, Melinda has recently broken her silence on her ex-husband Bill Gates’ affair.
In a preview of CBS Mornings’ exclusive interview with the philanthropist, which will run on Thursday, Melinda opened up about the consequences of her ex-husband Bill Gates’ adultery throughout their marriage.
Melinda said in a clip:
“I certainly believe in forgiveness, so I thought we had worked through some of that. It wasn’t one moment or one specific thing that happened. There just came a point in time where there was enough there that I realized it just wasn’t healthy and I couldn’t trust what we had.”
The Wall Street Journal reported shortly after Melinda announced her divorce from Bill in May 2021 that the Microsoft cofounder had been having an affair with one of the company’s programmers since 2000. Melinda, on the other hand, recognizes the progress she has made during the ordeal about a year later.
Melinda noted:
“At the end of the day, though, I started on this journey of healing, and I feel like I’m starting to get to the other side. And I do feel like I’m turning a page in the chapter now. I mean, it’s 2022, and I’m actually really excited about what’s to come and life ahead for me.”
Bill and Melinda married in January 1994 and both had three children: Jennifer, 25, Rory, 22, and Phoebe, 19. In a statement posted on Twitter in May 2021, the businesswoman revealed the breakup. The divorce of the cofounders of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was finalized in August 2021.
