Simon Leviev has made headlines for all the wrong reasons as he is infamously known as the Tinder Swindler. He managed to steal a ridiculous amount of money from women before he was finally caught. It seems he got a taste of his own medicine as well recently.
As reported earlier, Simon Leviev was banned from basically all other dating apps including OkCupid, Hinge, PlentyofFish, OurTime, Meetic, Pairs, and Match. Victims of his swindling are seeking $800k from their GoFundMe as well.
According to TMZ, Simon Leviev suffered a huge loss in an Instagram scam. Leviev was contacted by a verified female on Instagram. She claimed she would help Simon and his girlfriend Kate Konlin get verified on the app thanks to her boyfriend, whom she claimed worked at Meta.
The scammers certainly worked hard to pull off the scam. Simon Facetimed the boyfriend who was in a busy office and seemed to be working at Meta. The fake “Metamate” said the only way he could give Leviev the blue check on his profile and delete the fake profiles under his name, was to pay $6,664.
The payments were sent via PayPal through 2 separate transactions, one for him and his girlfriend each. Simon’s manager found the deal suspicious and reached out to an actual team member at Meta, who informed them they do not charge for verifying accounts.
The swindlers left no trace of their acts, as they removed their Instagram accounts and successfully swindled the Tinder Swindler. Leviev managed to get verified thanks to his manager who spoke to Meta. In the end, this was an expensive lesson for Leviev and we hope he will know better than to ever scam anyone again.
