Remy Ma is a singer-songwriter and actor who rose to prominence as a member of Fat Joe’s Terror Squad. Remy Ma is also known for making controversial remarks. She’s said something this time that may enrage any female artist. Remy Ma claimed that it doesn’t give importance if female rappers write their own songs.
Rap fans are divided on the importance of a rapper composing their own rhymes, and purists frequently disparage musicians who have collaborated with writers. Remy Ma was recently asked if she thinks it’s vital for a female rapper to write her own tracks during a recent interview with Math Hoffa and to this question she replied confidently.
“It’s not important.”
Remy Ma did concede, however, that no one had written for her and that she would not allow it. Remy explained that while a producer may already have a hook for a song, she enjoys the way she thinks and likes the way her mind works.
“It’s not, that’s something that I had to learn. It goes back with what I was saying earlier… When I wanted to just be nice, it doesn’t matter. Literally… I’ve written for other people. Nobody writes better than me.”
“It’s something that I do. It’s my craft.”
Now, despite Remy’s claim that it doesn’t matter in the industry if a woman doesn’t write her own rhymes, Remy Ma has declared categorically that if she hears that someone didn’t write their own songs, she will “look at you crazy.” Now let’s see how female rappers react to this controversial statement of Remy Ma.
