On Friday night, Santa Barbara International Film Festival had Charlize Theron present the American Riviera Award to Kristen Stewart for her Oscar-nominated performance as Princess Diana in Neon’s Spencer. Stewart rose to prominence after her role as Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga film series.
Ahead 0f the presentation from Theron, Stewart sat down with Indiewire editor Anne Thompson for a Q&A regarding her career. The main event displayed several clips from her career in the film industry.
The clips included Panic Room, Zathura: A Space Adventure, Into the Wild, Adventureland, Still Alice, The Runaways, Twilight, Happiest Season, Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper , and, Spencer.
Kristen Stewart has been in eye of public for the most part of her career, but when asked at what point the 31-year-old become aware of how truly famous she was. Stewart recalled her infamous photo of her getting caught smoking weed.
“Two days before Twilight came out, I remember I was sitting on my porch with my dog and I got papped for the first time…sitting there smoking a bowl,” she said. “I look back on that moment with fondness.”
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival continues till March 12. It is set to feature appearances from Will Smith, Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, Aunjanue Ellis, and many others.
