Brittney Griner Is Grateful For Fan Support As Russian Keeps Her Detained

Brittney Griner is a professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women’s National Basketball Association. However, her wife, Cherelle Griner has recently spoken out after learning that the WNBA star has been detained in Russia, and her first message is one of gratitude.

Cherelle took to Instagram on Sunday to share a photo of herself with Brittney, along with the caption, “Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me regarding my wife’s safe return from Russia. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated. I love my wife wholeheartedly, so this message comes during one of the weakest moments of my life.”

“I understand that many of you have grown to love BG over the years and have concerns and want details. Please honor our privacy as we continue to work on getting my wife home safely.”

Brittney is currently in Russian custody and appears to have been for quite some time, at least since February, when she was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. She’s accused of having vape cartridges in her bag while traveling through an airport, and Russian authorities even posted footage of the moment they searched her belongings.
