The streaming giant has decided to respond to ongoing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by halting the platform’s services in the territory. Ever since the invasion, several celebrities have also expressed their disapproval of Russia’s antics.

Netflix has previously suspended their ongoing film productions in Russia but now it seems they have put a full stop to everything. The streaming giant reportedly has less than 1 million subscribers in Russia, out of its total 222 million on the globe, so it’s not much of a loss either.

Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the said suspension. Netflix is just one of many mega-corporations to have paused their operations in Russia in the wake of recent events.

A spokesperson for Netflix said on Sunday;

“Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our service in Russia,”

Previously Disney announced that the company would be pulling all of its films from the country. We also saw Toronto Film Festival ban Russian delegations from its 2022 program.

The fight between Russia and Ukraine is continuously developing. The battle began when Putin attacked Ukraine on the 24th of February. Putin launched the “Special Military Operation” from North, South, and East fronts and still continues to advance.
