Lately, sports leagues have been taking gambling very seriously and the National Football League definitely doesn’t play around with this. Now Calvin Ridley is suffering for betting on games in a big way.
Calvin Ridley, the Atlanta Falcons wide receiver, was suspended today for the 2022 season because of betting. Ridley has been suspended for a whole year after an investigation revealed that he had been betting money on several NFL games as well as Falcon matches, said Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Calvin had left the Falcons in the middle of the season because of mental health issues and bets came following after his departure from the roster. Despite of this, the NFL is strictly against betting, and Ridley is clearly done for 2022.
In fact, Falcons had received several offers for Ridley but they didn’t take up the deal as they knew Ridley would be suspended sooner or later.
Ridley responded to these reports saying that he had only bet a total of $1500 on these games. Regardless of the amount, it was pretty much enough to get him suspended. This could have a negative impact on his career.
