Russell Wilson is on his way to Denver. The NFL tweeted that the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos have agreed in principal on a trade that will move Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson to the Mile High City. The entire outlook heading into the NFL Draft will now look completely different.
The trade is on hold pending Russell Wilson’s approval and his passing of a physical. Terms of the trade are unknown at this time. It is likely that Denver will pay a hefty price in draft capital to acquire Wilson.
Adam Schefter reported the news on Twitter, which was soon after shared by the league itself. The huge deal took weeks to negotiate. It will go down as one of the largest trades in NFL history.
“Blockbuster: After weeks of negotiations, in one of the largest trades in NFL history, the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos have agreed to terms for a deal involving Super-Bowl winning QB Russell Wilson, sources tell ESPN.
Trade is pending a physical and Wilson’s approval.”
The trade fills a huge need for the Denver Broncos at quarterback. Many fans expected Denver to make a push for Aaron Rodgers. Earlier today, news broke that Rodgers had re-signed with the Green Bay Packers for four years and $200 million.
The Broncos acquisition of Russell Wilson signals that the team wants to win now. The deal also could sweeten the pot for the impending sale of the franchise. Kanye West and Antonio Brown might have to pony up just a little bit more if they are really serious about buying the team.
