Francis Ngannou defeated Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 260 earlier in the year. After that, a lot of drama ensued as he never got to fight Jon Jones. It seems Ngannou thinks the UFC didn’t want him to square off against Jon Jones.
Jon Jones is considered one of the best fighters in the history of the UFC for many fans. Since early last year, Jones had made it his life’s mission to go after Francis Ngannou’s UFC Heavyweight Championship. Jones has also been on a mission to get paid.
For the past few months, Jon Jones has made it clear that he wants to return to the Octagon this year and even recently revealed that he plans on becoming a champion this year.
While speaking with Shannon Sharpe of Fox Sports 1, Kamaru Usman demanded that Dana White have Francis Ngannou square off against Jon Jones in a fight by July of this year.
“I’m over here, I’mma tell you right now. Francis Ngannou is a tall, full glass of milk for anybody to drink. I’mma give it to Jon Jones. You look at what Jones has done in his career, and the way he’s done it, I’ll put him up there. But times have changed and we know how this goes. You can’t be the best forever.
Anything can happen. When you fight Francis Ngannou, though… I wanna see it, of course. I wanna see it in July. Dana [White], let’s make it happen.”
Tito Ortiz also recently hoped that Francis Ngannou is not erased from UFC history. Ngannou’s current contract with the UFC will expire in December of this year and it is not known whether he will re-sign with the company at this point in time either. We will have to wait and see if he finally gets to fight Jon Jones or not.
