Russell Wilson is no longer a member of the Seattle Seahawks after spending a full decade with the team. Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos on Tuesday afternoon. Less than 24 hours after news broke about the Seattle Seahawks blockbuster trade, Russell Wilson went to social media to confirm he is on his way out of the Pacific Northwest.
It is hard to imagine a player of Wilson’s caliber being traded like that. However Wilson and the Seahawks were in the midst of a divorce. A trade seemed like the best option for all parties.
In the aftermath of the trade fans have been wondering what Wilson would say. Some players will offer a lengthy Instagram post following their departure from a team and in the end, it usually gets fans emotional. Wilson however decided to go with a much simpler approach.
Wilson took to Twitter to send a thank you message to Seahawks fans on March 9th. “SEATTLE, I Love You, Forever Grateful. #3”. That is all he had to say about his 10 years with the franchise.
Wilson’s tweet topped 5,000 retweets and 35,000 likes within the first 30 minutes of his post. For Seahawks fans feeling that March 8 was a bad nightmare they are hoping to wake up from. Wilson’s tweet confirms the post Russ era is officially underway in Seattle.
It remains to be seen how Wilson will play with his new team. Also there is always the possibility that he offers up even more words in the near future, rather It would be a surprise if Wilson did not post a lengthier message once the trade is officially approved.
