Kanye West is one of the most well-known rappers in the country due to his smash hit City of Gods. Fans must have noticed that Jay-Z and Kanye West’s camaraderie is growing. But, Kanye West became too impatient to include Jay-Z in his song, “City Of Gods.”
On the song “City Of Gods,” Kanye West, Fivio Foreign, and Alicia Keys snarled. The song is a tribute to New York City, and the three musicians collaborated on a drill banger that is still going strong in hip-hop. It’s such a piece of music that’s drawn a lot of attention, and now that Fivio has established himself as a superstar in his own right, it’s only natural that he wanted to share some of the fascinating details from the track’s genesis.
In fact, Fivio was a guest on Brian “B. Dot” Miller’s Complex Brackets, where he discussed one of Kanye’s wishes for the track. According to Fivio, the original idea was for Jay-Z to appear on the song, but Kanye became impatient and thought that it would be better to release the song with only himself, Fivio, and Keys.
“I had the skeleton of it, I had the beat and Ye was like, ‘Yo, this shit is so fire. We going to get Hov on it and we going to go crazy.’ He’s like, ‘Yo, I’m going to get Alicia Keys to sing it.’ But he wanted it out so fast. He’s like, ‘Yo, I’ma just do a verse.’ So he did the verse, got Alicia Keys on it, she ate that shit up, easy. She different.”
This revelation will most likely disappoint hip-hop aficionados, but there is always the possibility of a remix in the future. Fans would have seen Jay-Z on stage if Kanye had not been impatient at the time. For further updates stay tuned to Thirsty.
