It has been almost a year since Houston attorney filed multiple civil lawsuits accusing Deshaun Watson of inappropriate conduct and sexual assault. On Friday Jury of the ongoing case had some really good news for the Texans quarterback.
A grand jury found that Watson will not face criminal charges in Texas pertaining accusations of sexual misconduct made by 9 massage therapists. The jury heard the evidence involving Watson’s case before determining their conclusion.
Following the Jury’s determination Watson was emotional as he left the courthouse. Speaking with the reporters outside Watson said, “I know we’re far from being done handling what we need to handle on the legal side, But, today is definitely a big day. I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for letting the truth be heard.”
Watson clearly doesn’t want to waste much of his time in matters such as this, he pointed out he wants to get back into football but he still wants to fight to rebuild his reputation.
Watson’s attorney also addressed the Jury’s decision and expressed how happy he was.
“We are delighted that the grand jury has looked at the matter thoroughly and reached the same conclusion we did. Deshaun Watson did not commit any crimes and is not guilty of any offenses.”
“Now that the criminal investigations have been completed, we are happy to move forward with the civil case depositions. We will vigorously defend those cases with every ounce we have.”
“It is time to let Deshaun move on.”
Watson faces total of 22 civil lawsuits and 10 criminal complaints by more than 20 women accusing him of forced sexual interaction, groping and much more. Watson is not in the clear yet as other lawsuits are yet to be resolved but he can now breathe sigh of relief with recent decision.
The NFL also released a statement recently saying it is still investigating Watson’s situation meaning he has long way to go.
