Joe Biden has a lot on his mind amid the ongoing invasion of Russia into Ukraine. The international unrest sent waves of confusion, fear and uncertainty across the globe. Biden recently shared his thoughts on the controversial subject and he made a big assertion in the process.
The Hill reports that President Joe Biden reaffirmed that the United States still has no plans to engage in a war with Russia following the country’s unjust invasion of Ukraine. Biden also discussed the potential for World War III. He spoke on the subject in detail while reassuring the public on the matter.
“We’re going to continue to stand together with our allies in Europe and send an unmistakable message. We will defend every single inch of NATO territory with the full might of the united and galvanized NATO. We will not fight a war against Russia in Ukraine. Direct conflict between NATO and Russia is World War III, something we must strive to prevent.”
Biden also announced several new sanctions on Russia. Many raised calls for a no-fly zone to be placed over Ukraine by the United States. However, this would likely result in Biden’s aforementioned World War III possibility as the U.S. would be forced to shoot down Russian planes.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Thursday, “The President and our NATO partners have not changed their assessment about their plans to send U.S. troops in,” It is currently the 18th day of the Russian invasion and it shows no signs of stopping.
Biden also addressed the recent rising gas prices. He placed the blame on Putin as he said, “Democrats didn’t cause this problem. Vladimir Putin did. Putin’s gas tax has pushed prices higher.”
Meanwhile, we will be on the lookout for more updates. Stay tuned to Thirsty.
