Karl-Anthony Towns made the biggest statement of this NBA season last night. KAT’s Minnesota Timberwolves faced the lowly San Antonio Spurs in a game that the T-Wolves desperately needed to win. Towns took complete control and led his team to a wild 149-139 shootout victory. It was an individual performance he will never forget.

KAT dropped an NBA season-high 60 points on the Spurs. Not only did Karl-Anthony Towns fill the bucket, but he also gobbled up 17 rebounds for a very impressive double-double. The Timberwolves big man put on an absolute show.

After the game, Towns was asked what sparked the epic performance. KAT said he spoke to his coach and said he would do whatever it took to win the game. Karl-Anthony did more than anyone could’ve expected in the end.

“I told Coach [Chris Finch] before the game, ‘Hey listen, we need this win. I’ll do whatever it takes.’ If I need to play 44, 48 minutes, I’ll get it done.’

That was kind of the mindset I came in [with]. I had to dominate. I had to be my best.”

If Karl-Anthony Towns keeps it up, the Timberwolves will be a real contender for the NBA Finals coming out of the Western Conference. Big-time players step up in big moments. When Minnesota needed him, KAT delivered big time.
