Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round of his UFC 264 fight against Dustin Poirier. Since then, McGregor made a lot of controversial statements that drew the ire of many. Dana White also called him something interesting as well.
The Notorious One has been hard at work recovering from his injury over the past several months. He looks considerably more bulked up and fans are excited to see him return to the Octagon.
There is no denying just how big of a name Conor McGregor is. He is UFC’s biggest star and there is a good reason for that. Every pay-per-view McGregor headlines gets tons of buys as well.
While speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, UFC President Dana White talked about Conor McGregor’s importance in the MMA world. White called McGregor the unicorn of the world of MMA.
“That’s why Conor was the perfect storm, man. He could market himself, people loved him. He had that ‘it factor’ and he could fight. So you know, it’s very rare. It’s a f****** unicorn. Maybe if you are lucky, you can find a guy like Conor once every six or seven years. And maybe not to that level but even if it’s close to him it’s a home run. What I have learned in the business is, you can’t expect that fro everybody.”
Dana White also previously said that Conor McGregor is nowhere near for a UFC Title fight just yet. Conor McGregor will likely make his return by the Summer of this year, especially in July. It remains to be seen whether Conor McGregor will get a title shot or not once he is back.
