Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round of his UFC 264 fight against Dustin Poirier. Since then, McGregor became public enemy #1 for a lot of reasons, especially after getting into trouble on numerous occasions. McGregor’s striking ability was also criticized recently.
The Notorious One has worked the hardest he has ever worked in order to come back better than ever. He has considerably bulked up, weighing almost 200 pounds and looks to be in the best shape of his life.
There is no denying just how big of a name Conor McGregor is as his name is a brand itself. Conor McGregor is no longer the fighter that he used to be, especially in the striking department.
While speaking during a recent interview with ONE Championship, kickboxer Singha Mawynn talked about Conor McGregor’s skills. He criticized McGregor’s striking ability and called it overrated.
“I’d like to fight with McGregor because he is famous, but he is not that good. I think I can easily defeat him. Yes, he’s good at some level, but not at the top of what he’s doing. I think marketing and persona promotion makes everyone overestimate him. He’s overrated. If we fight with striking, not a ground game. I can definitely beat him.”
Dana White also previously said that Conor McGregor is nowhere near for a UFC Title fight just yet. Conor McGregor will likely make his return by the Summer of this year, especially in July. We’ll have to see who his first opponent will be once McGregor returns.
