Mary J. Blige, often referred to as “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,” opened up about why she does not have children and doesn’t wish to have any in the future.
In a recent interview with E! News, Mary shared that she “doesn’t want to go through,” the stress that comes with having children. She is fond of her current lifestyle, “being able to get up and go and move and do what I wanna do.”
“I don’t want to have to tend to someone all the time,” Mary added.
Justin Sylvester, the host, asked Mary if she regretted not being a mother and she replied, “I have nieces and nephews forever and I’m always watching how people are scrambling for babysitters. I don’t want to go through that. I don’t think it’s gonna happen.”
Most celebrities and fans took the comments on a post by The Shade Room to defend Mary’s choice of not having children. Asia’h Epperson wrote, “Ain’t nothing wrong with being the fun rich auntie!!!!!!” While one fan commented, “Respect a woman’s choice to not want kids”
Mary has been quite the celebrity since her marvelous Super Bowl performance, along with her recent album Good Morning Gorgeous, as well as her upcoming collaboration with Pepsi and Live Nation for her first “Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit” in Atlanta. She has also been working on the production her own Lifetime film.
