For weeks, Kanye West has been testing his luck on Instagram. Ye was given a 24-hour suspension for harassing Pete Davidson and others whom he considers enemies. Following Kanye West’s latest escapades, critics have called for the rapper to be dropped as one of Coachella’s 2022 headliners.
A netizen using the handle “Kim Pete” started a Change.org petition on Wednesday, claiming that organizers “should be ashamed of themselves” for providing West “any more of a platform” to spew vitriol toward his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and her new partner, Pete Davidson. “We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now,” the petition states, with more than 1,650 signatures as of Thursday afternoon.
“No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well. This is ridiculous that he is allowed to freely do this.”
The petition was launched on the same day that Instagram suspended Ye from posting for 24 hours following his repeated attacks on Kardashian and Davidson as well as comedians D.L. Hughley and Trevor Noah, whom the Grammy winner referred to as a racial slur for defending the reality star.
In his posts, West has blamed Kardashian for using their four children to irritate and “gaslight” him, criticized North’s access to TikTok at the age of eight, and claimed he has been gradually estranged from his family. He’s also been harassing Davidson for weeks, decapitating a parody of him in his latest music video, “Eazy.”
Instead of caving into West’s demands, the “Kardashians” star has decided to take “the high road” in their ongoing divorce. However, Coachella is set to take place in Indio, California, from April 15 to 17, and April 22 to 24, with headliners Kanye West, Harry Styles, and Billie Eilish.
