The Miami hip-hop scene has lost a number of artists to gun violence, and they are mourning the murder of another another rapper following a tragedy earlier this week. Police in Miami-Dade are apparently looking for the assailant who shot rapper Baby Cino, actual name Timothy Starks.
Cino was an ambitious rapper who aspired to be the next big thing in the Florida hip hop industry, but he was gunned murdered just minutes after being released from jail, according to sources. Cino, 20, was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after being detained for 24 hours on a firearms charge, according to PEOPLE.
When his ride, 20-year-old pal Dante Banks, arrived in a red Nissan, he hadn’t even taken off his convict bracelet. Due to rush hour traffic, the automobile reportedly slowed as it approached the Palmetto Expressway. However, minutes after getting on the road, a shooter in a different vehicle came and fired at least 40 rounds at the Nissan.
The Nissan hit a wall on the ramp, and Starks suffered several gunshot wounds, including one to his head.
The driver was also injured, and after taking a bullet to the abdomen, he was brought to the hospital and survived his injuries. Shots rang out when his mother was on the phone with her son, according to WSVN News. The shooter’s vehicle is said to be dark-colored, according to Miami-Dade Police detective Angel Rodriguez.
If you observed the shooting taking place or if you recall any bit of detail, no matter how minor it is, please call our Crime Stoppers tip line with your information, and remember, you can remain anonymous. Detectives are looking at every motive or every bit of information based on the evidence they have here at the scene.
Authorities are trying to figure out if the gunshot is linked to earlier occurrences with a probable street gang connection. During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Baby Cino’s family. Below are some of the late aspiring rapper’s social media posts. RIP.
