Conor McGregor shockingly fractured his ankle at the end of the first round of his UFC 264 fight against Dustin Poirier. Since then McGregor has been on a path of destruction that resulted in McGregor saying a lot of controversial remarks. McGregor also won’t be returning as a lightweight.
The Notorious One has been hard at work recovering from his injury over the past several months. He looks considerably more bulked up and fans are excited to see him return to the Octagon. However, Dustin Poirier thinks he looks puffy.
Conor McGregor previously made it clear that he wants a shot at Charles Oliveira’s UFC Lightweight Championship once he returns to the Octagon. This led to a lot of debate as well.
While speaking to MAC Life, Conor McGregor talked about his upcoming return to the UFC. McGregor revealed that he will not be returning as a lightweight(155 pounds) as he feels much better being at 170 pounds.
“It’s about finding out which weight now you know I just don’t really see myself going back to 155 [pounds] again. I mean, I’m eating, I’m lifting, I’m training and I’m not cutting calories. So you know, this is my natural state. I can go even bigger, you know what I’m saying.
I might be only 170 [pounds], I don’t wanna go too much above 170… I’ve always had a great time when I’ve had a full camp at 170 with correct preparation, the [Nate] Diaz-2 rematch, and the Cowboy [Donald Cerrone] fight in particular.”
Dana White also previously said that Conor McGregor is nowhere near for a UFC Title fight just yet. Conor McGregor is expected to make his UFC return in July this year. We’ll have to see who his first opponent will be once McGregor returns.
