Maren Morris is a multi-talented rapper and composer who will be releasing a new single shortly. Maren’s days weren’t easy as she was embroiled in a slew of controversies, but that didn’t stop her from delivering hit after hit. Maren Morris recently defended her Playboy photoshoot, calling it “country female sexuality in its realest form.”
Maren Morris promoted her “country female sexuality” ahead of the release of her new album. In the caption of a topless Instagram photo uploaded Friday, the country music star reflected on her 2019 Playboy photo session, shutting down detractors’ comments.
“Before I go into the next album era, I did @playboy in 2019 and got a lot of hate at the time, but I’m the proudest that I showed country female sexuality in its (realest) form here. We are nuanced, we are messy and stretch-marked in the most beautiful way. Don’t sleep on us. We tell your down home stories in the most unflinching, gorgeous lane.”
Morris posed topless for Playboy’s “Gender and Sexuality” issue in the summer of 2019, wearing red jeans, cowhide cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat. Her images drew some online criticism from commenters who claimed she would “lose respect” from followers and that there was “no need” for her to “expose” herself to the public. She wasn’t going to put up with it. Those comments prompted Maren to react on Instagram.
“The thing about me is I make music for myself, I learned later that it touches others, which is the most wonderful byproduct of a songwriter’s calling. Some can slut-shame me for my lyrics about sex, and you can put me in your little box, but I just want to live and love. I recently accepted myself and will put these photos in a frame because I’ll never have this moment back.”
Even if she gets in trouble, Maren Morris is always up to speak up for gender equality in the music industry. Whats your view on it? For further updates stay tuned to Thirsty.
