Chester Bennington is a name that no one in the music industry can ever forget. The Legend’s voice gave many people a reason to live, but no one knew he was struggling inside too. Chester’s widow Talinda recently expressed immense grief while wishing her late husband on his 46th birthday.
Talinda Bennington, Chester Bennington’s widow, is remembering her late husband on what would have been his 46th birthday. Talinda shared an old photo of Chester holding a birthday present with a big smile on her Instagram page on Sunday.
“Happy Birthday my love! We miss you so much. The pain doesn’t get any easier but you get used to it is what they say. I’m not sure I believe that at all. There’s no getting used to this type of grief.”
“I’m doing my best to raise our babies the way we always talked about. You were my other half and it is so hard walking without you. I love you and we are celebrating you today.”
Chester committed suicide in July of 2017 at the age of 41. Talinda founded the nonprofit 320 Changes Direction after his death in an effort to “change the culture about mental health, mental illness, and wellness,” according to its website. Talinda and Chester had three children: Tyler Lee, a son, and twin daughters, Lily and Lila. The Linkin Park frontman was also the father of three other children from previous relationships, one of which was adopted.
Talinda opened up about her late husband on an episode of the ABC News podcast Life After Suicide in 2019, telling the network’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton that she thought he had reached a “good place” after years of struggling with substance abuse and depression.
“We just thought he was okay. I can’t emphasize enough. If you knew Chester, you would know that he was in a good place, in such a good place.”
Rather than remaining “stuck in despair,” Talinda says that interacting with Linkin Park fans on social media helped her get through the early stages of grief. “They were reaching out, saying how sad they were and how they didn’t think they could go on because Chester couldn’t. And I knew that that’s the last thing Chester would’ve wanted.”
Chester’s death shocked millions of his fans, and to this day, on his birthday, everyone prays for his soul. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
