Christina Ricci is joining Netflix’s “Wednesday” series cast for a new mystery role. The actor initially played Wednesday in the iconic ’90s franchise “The Addams Family; now she is back to the same universe.

The live-action series directed by Tim Burton stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams. The Yellowjackets star Ricci is reportedly not be playing an older version of the character for Wednesday but an entirely new role as per Deadline.

Most of the details regarding Ricci’s character are being kept secret for a surprise. It is said that Ricci has been quietly working on Wednesday for the past few weeks, filming on the MGM-produced series, which is slated to wrap production in Romania at the end of the month.

When the Netflix series was announced, fans launched a petition asking for Ricci to be cast in the show. It just goes on to display how much the fans of the franchise loved her character in the Addams Family movies. Now she is finally joining the series as many wanted.

The series is described as a coming-of-age supernatural mystery comedy focusing on Wednesday Addams, focusing on her years as a high school student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers, stop a monstrous killing spree of the town citizens, and solve the supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationships.
