The incident in which Jusuf Nurkic tossed a fan’s cellphone is revealing some ugly information. According to reports, after a fan insulted Jusuf Nuric’s dead grandmother, the altercation began.
According to Yahoo Sports, Nurkic claims the fight occurred when the fan yelled “your mom is trash” and “grandma’s a bitch,” Nurkic revealed in August 2020 that his grandmother died of COVID-19.
Jusuf Nurki has been fined $40,000 by the NBA for hurling a fan’s phone during an altercation after a game on Sunday. The NBA issued the penalty Tuesday morning, reprimanding the 27-year-old for his postgame altercation with a Pacers fan.
Nurki marched up to a spectator after Portland’s 129-98 loss to Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, glared him down, then snatched his phone and tossed it. Nurki showed up to whisper something to the guy before security separated them. It’s unsure what the fan said to irritate Nurki, but the NBA clearly didn’t care, slapping him with the hefty fine.
Nurki, who has been out for several weeks due to plantar fasciitis, has yet to publicly address the incident. Meanwhile, the NBA has been issuing a lot of fines recently, such as this one, as NBA players have continuously retaliated at fans this season. In fact, just a few days ago, Kevin Durant was fined $25,000 for cursing out a fan sitting courtside at a game earlier this month.
