Paige VanZant was a huge star during her time in the world of MMA. While she did not have the best record inside the Octagon, she became a success nonetheless. VanZant also explained why did not end up signing with WWE.
The former UFC fighter recently signed with Tony Khan’s company and since then has been training in the art of professional wrestling. She had been featured on AEW television for quite a while prior to signing a contract as well.
While speaking Throwing Down with Renee Paquette and Miesha Tate, Paige VanZant revealed that she did have a meeting at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut to negotiate a contract. However, she did not like WWE’s direction for her and ultimately declined.
“I did know my career would take me to pro wrestling eventually. I wasn’t sure what venue that would be, if it would be WWE or AEW. I’ve been a fan of both, I made it out about a year ago to WWE headquarters. They had a different plan for what they wanted for me.”
Paige VanZant will also continue to compete in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship after signing with AEW. We’ll have to see how VanZant will be booked in AEW in the coming months.
