The NFL is in the off-season and some big moves are going down. Now a star wide receiver will need to learn how to get to work in a different city. Tyreek Hill is no longer a member of the Chiefs. The Miami Dolphins have acquired the fast wide receiver in exchange for a slew of draft picks.
According to ESPN, the Kansas City Chiefs are dealing six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for five draft picks, a No. 29 first-round pick in 2022, a No. 50 second-round pick in 2023, and fourth- and sixth-round picks in 2023. Agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN that the Dolphins are handing him a four-year, $120 million contract deal, with $72.2 million guaranteed. It elevates him to the position of highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.
Hill, who has been voted to the Pro Bowl in each of his six NFL seasons, set a career-high and a franchise record with 111 receptions for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns last season for the Chiefs. In his career, he has 479 receptions for 6,630 yards and 56 touchdowns. He is one of four players since 1970 to have at least six touchdown catches in each of his first six NFL seasons.
The speedster was undoubtedly an important part of the Chiefs’ success over the years, as they advanced to four consecutive AFC Championship Games and back-to-back Super Bowls, thus his presence in Patrick Mahomes’ huddle will be sorely missed. Hill now joins Russell Wilson, Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, and Matt Ryan as players who will have a new team in 2022, as the latest in a flurry of NFL trades.
The Dolphins have made two huge moves this week to improve their offense, both of which will be implemented by new head coach Mike McDaniel. According to ESPN, the Dolphins and left tackle Terron Armstead agreed on a five-year agreement worth up to $87.5 million on Tuesday, securing the services of one of the best free agents in the 2022 cycle. According to the source, the contract involves $43.37 million in guaranteed funds.
