Scarlett Johansson has sold her New York City penthouse, and it appears that the lucky buyer got a good deal. It is finally sold at a loss after nearly two years on the market, according to The New York Post.
The Oscar-nominated actress paid $2.1 million for the two-bedroom, two-bathroom Sutton Place spread in 2008. On March 11th, she managed to sell it for $1.87 million, according to records. Aside from the immediate $223,000 loss, additional costly renovations and upgrades to the property over the years increase her losses.
With an approximate $165 million net worth and being named the world’s highest-paid actress in 2018 and 2019, the “Black Widow” star is highly improbable to be concerned. The Marvel actress initially listed the home for $2.5 million in July 2020 but was unable to find a buyer after lowering the price to $1.89 million in December. It was listed for rent at $6,500 per month while it was on the market.
The home, which overlooks the East River, has a terrace with skyline views and an area for al fresco dining. Hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling sliding windows, and a renovated open kitchen with luxurious marble countertops are among the features. The primary suite also has a large walk-in closet. A full-time doorman, an extra laundry room, and a parking garage are among the facilities of the white-glove postwar building.
However, her husband, “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost, listed his West Village duplex in October and has an awaiting offer on the property. Jost listed the two-bedroom, two-bathroom home shortly after his first child with Johansson was born last August. The listing was held by Noble Black and Douglas Elliman.
