WWE’s TV-PG programming can be viewed in more than 1 billion homes worldwide in 30 languages through world-class distribution partners including NBCUniversal, FOX Sports, BT Sport, Sony India and Rogers. It seems WWE landed a huge Middle East television partnership with the MBC Group.
WWE and MBC Group recently announced a major broadcast partnership. According to a press release about the partnership, MBC’s video on demand (VOD) streaming service, Shahid, will become the new home of WWE in Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Middle East and North Africa’s (MENA) region.
MBC Group is MENA region’s largest and most powerful media conglomerate. Shahid will be the new home of WWE in MENA, hosting all premium live events, beginning with WrestleMania 38 on April 3rd and 4th, as well as live episodes of Raw and SmackDown.
WWE Network’s huge collection of original programming and archived content are also included in the collaboration. WWE President Nick Khan released a statement about the partnership.
MBC GROUP is a market leader in the region and a great partner for WWE. By delivering our premium live events including WrestleMania and SummerSlam, our weekly programming including Raw and SmackDown, as well as WWE’s massive library, we believe we will expand our reach throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
Shahid will introduce a dedicated WWE channel, which will make the entire WWE Network archive — more than 10,000 hours of material – available to stream on-demand in addition to weekly programming. Fans will be able to browse and view the complete WWE catalogue on Shahid, including NXT, which will air the day after the US broadcast.
Fans will be captivated by a unique combination of edge-of-your-seat excitement, surprising drama, and world-class athleticism in the weekly programming, which will be shown 52 weeks a year.
