Megan Thee Stallion is getting her own documentary series amid countless other headlines. While she might be involved in some legal troubles with her former label, and there’s that incident of Tory Lanez allegedly shooting her, fans can’t wait to see more of her.
Roc Nation and Time Studios have decided to team up for a documentary based on the 27-year-old hip-hop artist. The docuseries will trace the Grammy-winning musician’s origins from her birthplace Texas to her upbringing in the state. Not to mention the important part that it will highlight her career so far.
Nneka Onuorah is handed the responsibility for directing the documentary. The famed director has worked with the likes of Barack Obama and Lizzo, to name a few. Presently a network/platform for the series is yet to be disclosed.
As stated earlier, Roc Nation is named executive producer for the series alongside Time Studios. The following statement was given by the Time Studios co-head of documentary Loren Hammonds on their new docuseries in work.
“We are thrilled to be able to work with Roc Nation to share Megan’s story with the world. Millions of people are familiar with her as an entertainer, but this series will give her a chance to share her truth as never before.”
“Her story is a powerful one, and the accomplishments that she continues to achieve are remarkable. We feel lucky to have this opportunity to capture her at a crucial moment in her life and career, as she continues to grow exponentially in both her artistry and global impact.”
Desiree Perez, CEO of ROC Nation, also had something to say about the project they are proud to work on.
“Megan has quickly blossomed into one of the pre-eminent entertainers in the world and it’s a testament to her perseverance, resilience and professionalism,” Perez said.
“Her journey is inspirational and we’re proud to have partnered with TIME Studios to highlight her personal and professional trajectory over the years. Our hope is that this documentary will inspire viewers to stay the course and pursue their passions through the ups and downs.”
The project will feature rare archival footage and a fresh verité video to highlight the rapper’s rise to prominence from a viral freestyling phenom to a sensation in pop culture. Fans will get to see the struggles Texas-born rapper had to face to gain the success she has today.
