Dua Lipa began her career as a model before signing with Warner Bros. Records in 2014. Then she released her self-titled debut album in 2017. Dua is currently facing two back-to-back lawsuits over her 2020 hit song, “Levitating.” Through it all, the singer has revealed that her third studio album is halfway finished.

In a new interview with Elton John as part of Lipa’s Service95 podcast, she gave a further update as to progress on the album. Lipa revealed that her third album is “50% done” and “starting to feel good.”

Lipa first hinted at her follow-up to 2020 smash ‘Future Nostalgia’ in January, when she said she had “done a big chunk of writing” for the new record. In a new interview with Elton John for Lipa’s Service95 podcast, she provided an update on the album’s progress.

“It’s starting to feel good,” she said, adding that the album was “50 percent done.” “It’s starting to take shape. I’m very excited about some of the new songs so it’s always exciting to look forward towards something,” she added. Lipa told The Wall Street Journal in January that LP3 was “still in baby form” and that she was “in no rush” to release it, but that she had “a lot of it recorded.”

“It has a vision. It has a name, I think—for now. It’s just been fun experimenting. I’m always going to make pop music, but it has its own unique sound, which is exciting and something that feels like a movement from ‘Future Nostalgia.'”

Lipa hinted that her sonic evolution between albums would be significant, and that fans might have to wait a while for the follow-up to ‘Future Nostalgia.’ “In all honesty, it’s probably not what my fans want to hear – but I’m not in a hurry to put out a new album,” she added.

The announcement comes as Lipa prepares to embark on a massive world tour in support of her new album, ‘Future Nostalgia.’ She has headline tours planned in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, as well as Australia and New Zealand, as well as appearances at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Sziget, Roskilde, and Primavera Sound.

Since the release of ‘Future Nostalgia,’ as well as its expanded and remixed editions, Dua Lipa has collaborated with Kylie Minogue, Elton John, and the late Pop Smoke, released the track ‘Can They Hear Us?’ as part of the soundtrack for Gully, and launched the self-curated Service95 hub and podcast.

Let’s wait and see when Dua announces the release of her album. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
