Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock Over Jada Pinkett Joke

Will Smith attended the Oscars 2022 on Sunday night along with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Everything was going on smoothly at star-studded event, but the celebrations took a backseat as Will had a meltdown when Chris Rock came on stage.

The “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” star smacked Rock on Sunday night for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head. Rock took to the stage and quipped, “Jada, I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it,” but while Will first laughed about the joke he immediately turned sour.

For context, “G.I. Jane” is a 1997 movie starring a shaved-headed Demi Moore as a soldier entering the armed services. Pinkett Smith looked furious before the censors turned on and muted Rock and Smith’s exchange.

However, lip readers quickly realized that Smith shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.” Rock composed himself and said, “That was the greatest night in the history of television,” It was certainly a shocking thing to see at the 94th Academy Awards.

Jada suffers from alopecia and has been vocal about her struggle with hair loss and debuted a shaved head last summer. At the time, the 50-year old actress wrote, “Willow made me do it because it was time to let go BUT … my 50’s are bout to be Divinely lit with this shed,”

Pinkett Smith had been using scarves to conceal her head but decided to lean in and updated her fans in December about her hair-loss journey. She explained, “Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia,”

“look at this line right here…it just showed up like that. And this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide, so I thought I’d just share it so y’all not asking any questions.”

Meanwhile, Rock and the “King Richard” star have been feuding since 2005 when the comic made a joke about Pinkett Smith boycotting the Oscars at the time over its lack of diversity. Rock joked at the time, “Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited,”
