Alec Baldwin made news after accidentally shooting cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust.” Alec has been dealing with a slew of challenges since then, including being named as a defendant in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the Hutchins family. Alec recently added to the Oscars debacle.
While tweeting his support for Chris Rock, Alec Baldwin compared the 2022 Academy Awards to “The Jerry Springer Show.” Smith stormed the stage during the film’s biggest night and slapped Rock for making a bald joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has alopecia. Recently, Baldwin took to Twitter to weigh in on the fiasco.
I am not reading much about how, or even if, the producers attended to Chris. But I love you, @chrisrock. And I’m sorry the Oscars turned into the Jerry Springer show.
Rock appeared upset but attempted to keep the event on track, to the point where half of the internet believed the slap was staged. The moment was completely improvised, according to ABC executive Rob Mills, who was sitting in the Oscars production trailer with showrunners at the time.
Mills told Variety that the crew didn’t comprehend the gravity of the situation until they heard swear words. Smith earned Best Actor for his performance as Venus and Serena Williams’ father, Richard Williams, in the biographical film “King Richard,” just minutes after the disaster.
