Fashion Nova never wastes an opportunity to capitalize on hot current events. The controversial retailer was quick on the draw after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock over a joke he made about his wife at this weekend’s Oscars. The text alert immediately got social media buzzing.
Subscribers to Fashion Nova’s marketing texts received an alert yesterday that the company was offering to “slap” 40% discounts over their entire site. The company was recently fined over $4 million for deleting negative user reviews online. The latest marketing effort came as no surprise to customers.

It speaks volumes about the reputation of Fashion Nova that fans were able to predict such a sale. The marketing team is taking a ‘Nothing ventured, nothing gained” approach. They don’t seem to be nearly as upset about the whole thing as Will Smith was. Instead, they’re simply cashing in.
