Will Smith generated a ton of controversy when he smacked Chris Rock for making a joke about Jada-Pinkett Smith’s bald head. It seems, the doctor who Smith portrayed in 2015 film “Concussion” has Will’s back.
Dr. Bennet Omalu, portrayed by Smith told TMZ that Smith transformed his life for the better. He noted that Smith’s one of the most beautiful people he’s ever met. He shared with the outlet that the incident with Rock doesn’t sully the actor’s reputation, it simply shows a more human side of him.
While Dr. Bennet doesn’t condone violence, he thinks the slap was simply an impulsive act. He added that the outburst proved to viewers he isn’t like other “superstars”, he’s way more authentic.
The doctor attributed the outburst to pressure with the looming question of who will win Best Actor on Will’s mind. Following the incident, Will went on to win the Oscar for his role in “King Richard.” Will gave an emotional acceptance speech while apologizing to the Academy for his behavior.
Dr. Bennet also shared that he loves Smith even more after the incident. His views are clearly not those shared by most people. Meanwhile, you can check out his interview with TMZ below.
