A$AP Rocky has not released music for a while, but it seems like he has been active pursuing many other endeavors. A$AP Rocky has often talked about his desire to venture out in the liquor business. A$AP Rocky took over headlines after he announced the launch of his whiskey brand, Mercer+Prince. It seems he also weighed in on the Oscars debacle.
Rocky is the latest in a long line of celebrities to use their preferred method to discuss Will Smith hitting comedian Chris Rock at the Academy Awards. The rapper recently appeared on Drink Champs to discuss the situation and its repercussions. A$AP states in the video that he feels the incident was the culmination of events that had been brewing beneath the surface.
I’m a fan of Will, Jada, Chris, all of them. They OGs. I think it’s unfortunate that, like, he emasculated another Black man in front of all them people like that. But I do think that, like, it’s some built-up sh-t that probably wasn’t really targeted at Chris Rock. I don’t know. … Like what you said, it seems like it’s more than just a G.I. Jane joke.
The event has fueled a ferocious news cycle, with constant conjecture regarding the facts of the incident’s early aftermath, particularly how ceremony officials initially reacted. Will Packer, the Oscars producer, remembered the occasion from his viewpoint in an interview with Good Morning America, stating that Rock did not get to one joke that was originally scheduled as part of his presence as a presenter at the show.
Rock might have not wanted to file charges against Smith, but Academy Awards committee has been very upset about the incident. While Oscars has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Smith, he has decided to resign from the membership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Check out the video below.
