Eric Church has released nine studio albums via Capitol Nashville since 2005. Church’s music style has been described as country-rock, outlaw country, and southern rock. Church recently infuriated his fans by cancelling a major concert to watch his basketball team play, and now the famed singer is attempting to make amends.

Eric Church, the country star who was chastised on social media for cancelling a sold-out concert to attend an NCAA tournament game, is looking to make things right with Texas fans who were disappointed at being turned down for a game. Church messaged ticketholders and former ticketholders for the show, which was scheduled to take place Saturday night at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, informing them that they would be invited to a makeup show in the nearby city of New Braunfels in five months.

“Thank you San Antonio for letting me take my family to this game. It took a minute to figure out how and when I could properly express my thanks. I will be coming to Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX on Friday, September 2, 2022 for a ONE of a kind FREE show for those of you who bought tickets and were planning to attend our cancelled San Antonio show. Details to be announced soon.”

Ticket prices for this weekend’s San Antonio concert had already been refunded when Ticketmaster announced on Monday that Church would be cancelling the show. Church also shared his message about the free makeup show on social media, prompting a wide range of reactions. “See? Guys. The BEST. What an incredibly cool thing to do,” tweeted one fan. “Will you reimburse my non-refundable flight and hotel room also?” wrote another.

Church wrote in his initial message that cancelling the show to attend a historic match between his UNC Tar Heels and Duke was a “selfish thing” to do, but expressed confidence that his fans in San Antonio would be “letting” him go to the game an overestimation, based on many indications, of just how many of them would be fine with the concert not happening.

There was no word on what former ticketholders would have to do to prove they were ticketed for the cancelled concert in order to gain entry in New Braunfels, but Ticketmaster does still have email addresses associated with the refunded tickets.
