LeBron James has actually excelled, as his continuous effort in every game helped him break NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record. Fans must have noticed that Kareem and LeBron’s platforms appear to be tricky. Kareem recently stated that LeBron should be embarrassed by his old stances since they are “beneath him.”
King James may be on his way to passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, but the legend still has a long way to go in terms of being a true role model, according to KAJ. During the presentation of a new trophy carrying his name which he conferred upon Carmelo Anthony for his social justice work during the 2021-22 season, the Lakers icon delivered his pointed criticism at LBJ.
After the ceremony, it appeared like Kareem lingered and spoke with reporters. They asked him how he felt about LeBron overtaking him as the league’s leading scorer, which is likely to happen next season barring any extended sitting out on LeBron’s side.
Kareem stated that he had no objections to Bron inheriting the title, but he still has reservations about LeBron’s legacy as a whole. This includes his off-court comments, actions, and views, some of which he described as “beneath him” in the larger scheme of things.
While Kareem complimented LeBron for his philanthropic efforts, including sending a slew of students to college on his own, he believes the King should be embarrassed about a few things. This is also something Kareem has been quoted as saying.
“Some of the things he’s done and said are really beneath him, as far as I can see. Some of the great things that he’s done, he’s standing on both sides of the fence almost, you know? It makes it hard for me to accept that when he’s committed himself to a different take on everything. It’s hard to figure out where he’s standing. You’ve got to check him out every time.”
Kareem has been outspoken about LeBron’s vaccine apprehensions. Kareem wrote an essay at the time, claiming that LeBron’s joke was a disgrace to his legacy and urging him to do better, especially as a Black community leader. He’s also said that LeBron’s celebrations on the court especially his dancing aren’t G.O.A.T.-worthy.
