Mark Wahlberg is a family man, he has had an incredible career in Hollywood. However he is approaching a point in life where he does not want to be away from his family due to months-long projects.

The 50-year-old actor recently explained why he is considering retirement soon when it comes to his career in Hollywood. He spoke with ET‘s Cassie DiLaura at his hometown screening in Boston for his latest film, Father Stu.

During the interview, Wahlberg opened up about his about his family, faith and his career as a revered actor and director. He hopes that the his latest film would open pave way for others in Hollywood to make more meaningful content.

“I feel like this is starting a new chapter for me in that, now, doing things like this — real substance — can help people,” he said. “I definitely want to focus on making more. I wouldn’t say necessarily just faith-based content but things that will help people. So, hopefully this movie will open a door for not only myself but for lots of other people in Hollywood to make more meaningful content.”

Wahlberg was then questioned about when he wants to leave the movie business, to which he hinted it’s not too far from now. Recently we saw Jim Carrey and Bruce Willis announce their retirement from the big screen.

“Sooner rather than later, probably” Wahlberg said. 

Mark pointed out he wants to spend more time with his children, Ella, 18, Michael, 16, Brendan, 13, and Grace, 12, whom he shares with his wife, Rhea Durham. Ultimately he wants more family time as he said leaving them behind because of movie projects is really hard.
