In the main event of UFC 270, Francis Ngannou defended his UFC Heavyweight Championship against Ciryl Gane. He ultimately ended up winning the fight, but he was not in his peak condition. There was a good reason for that as well.
It was revealed that Ngannou was injured while competing in the fight and despite that, he still won. Ngannou recently underwent knee surgery in Los Angeles, California, to repair his torn MCL and for the reconstruction of the ACL as well.
Francis Ngannou has been working hard to make a recovery after he underwent the knife for his injury. By the looks of it, the journey has been a long and painful one for him.
While speaking to Patrick Bet-David on the PBD podcast, Francis Ngannou talked about his recovery from knee surgery. Ngannou stated that he thinks he might not have had knee surgery if he knew how horrible it would be.
“It’s been very rough. It’s a tough process because I didn’t really know what I was going to put myself into – which is a good thing because if I knew that it’s going to be this horrible, maybe I could’ve hesitated on the surgery. But I didn’t know, so I went there free-minded. And the surgery went well. Everything is going well actually; but still, a very tough process.
Yeah, the injury, and the pain, the irritation, and everything. And then also the fact of being dependent. You can’t do anything. You have to call a friend out to drive you, or to Uber, or stuff. You can’t, I mean, doing daily basis stuff is like, very hard.”
Francis Ngannou is also expected to be out for a long time after his ACL surgery. We’ll have to see when Ngannou will be able to make his return to the Octagon.
