Betty White passed away from a stroke just a few weeks before her 100th birthday. Months after the death of legendary television star Betty White, her personal belongings are going to auction. An exhibition of some of her personal belongings will be held up for auction in September.
According to TMZ, White’s oceanfront gem will provide joy to a new owner, as her estate has found a buyer for the Carmel, California home. The property is a stunning 3,621 square feet on California’s picturesque Monterey peninsula, with 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms with views of the nearby beaches from practically every room.
Betty and her husband Allen Ludden purchased the block of land for $170,000 in 1978, and finished work on the house in 1981, just days before Allen died of stomach cancer. Betty apparently desired to spend her dying days at this residence, but was forced to go to Los Angeles, where at-home care was more readily available.
A flowering garden in the backyard looks out over the beach, and a large terrace provides the perfect view at any time of day. With the words “Here, paradise is yours,” the home’s listing hit the nail on the head. There are several walking routes in the area, and stairs out the back gate lead directly to the sand.
This week, the estate accepted an offer, but the sale is still on hold. The listing was handled by Nicole Truszkowski and Zak Freedman of Sotheby’s International Realty. Her estate is set to go up for auction in September, with over 1,500 of her personal belongings and artefacts expected to sell.
