Kanye West ‘Blindsided’ Coachella Staff With With Cancellation

Coachella is precisely one week away, with tens of thousands of people expected to descend on the California desert. The major festival is making a triumphant comeback with a roster that has fans excitedly anticipating the appearance of their favorite artists. However Kanye West backed out of his headlining slot earlier this week.

Several theories have surfaced as to why West chose to retreat, but we’ll have to wait for the billionaire rapper to explain his choice himself. Meanwhile, Page Six stated that Coachella producers were doubtful since West didn’t seem to have worked out his rehearsals, according to their sources.

Coachella’s production staff was likewise blindsided by West’s cancellation, according to reports, as they hurried to fill his spot. Kelly Rowland is all too familiar with the pressures of a Coachella performance, having rejoined with Beyoncé on the festival’s stage four years ago with Michelle Williams.

Rowland was interviewed by RadarOnline during the Go Red for Women event, and the singer was asked about her opinions on whether West’s absence will have an impact on the festival’s run. Rowland also revealed that her Coachella moment took “months” of preparation to ensure that “everything was perfect.” 

The folks at Coachella are very smart. They are a wonderful team, organized, and brilliant, and they will figure it out because they have the best of the best. The surprise was the reaction from fans. I couldn’t hear anything. I got offstage and was like, ‘Did they like it?’
