Original: The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect everyone in the world and includes the likes of MMA fighters, musicians and more. Even Elon Musk had tested positive for it last month. CMT Awards are now in trouble after what happened to Kelsea Ballerini as well.
According to Page Six, producers of the 2022 CMT Music Awards are “scrambling” after co-host Kelsea Ballerini tested positive for COVID-19. It was said to be a very difficult time for them.
“This obviously is not an ideal situation, but it is a sign of the times. The show is being rejiggered in real time so that everything can go as seamlessly as possible.”
Ballerini, 28, was going to host Monday night’s ceremony with “The Hurt Locker” actor Anthony Mackie until she tested positive for COVID-19. In her place, country singer Kane Brown will be hosting at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
Ballerini will still be considered a host in the sense that she will be appearing on video from her own home. She wants to help out in any way she can as well.
“Kelsea has been great and wants to help in any way she can. The team still has a big, exciting night planned.”
A CMT spokesperson added that Ballerini, who is vaccinated against the coronavirus, is “asymptomatic and remains excited to co-host the show. The 2022 CMT Music Awards air Monday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. We’ll have to see how it will be received by fans.
