Mark Wahlberg has given us a plethora of memorable movies. What most people don’t know is that Mark was a rapper way before his glory movie actor days. He went by the name of Marky Mark and now his kids are mortified by his old videos.
The actor took to The Ellen Show to promote his new movie, Father Stu. He was asked about his old Marky Mark videos, which he revealed are not received well by his kids. The 50-year-old actor shares four children Ella, Michael, Brendan, and Grace with his wife Rhea.
The Boston native formed Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in 1990. He had a number one hit song with Good Vibrations featuring Loleatta Holloway. Gaining traction from the success, he also found fame with a number of underwear ads for Calvin Klein before starting his acting career.
Ellen mentioned that things from the 90s are coming back, and she was wondering if Marky Mark could possibly come back. ‘Yes… under the right circumstances,’ Mark said. When Ellen asked if his kids have seen him perform, Wahlberg added, ‘They’ve seen videos of me performing and they’re mortified.’
Mark said his 16-year-old son Michael is embarrassed by everything he does. He labels some of his dad’s work as dumb by saying “Dad that’s so dumb. Dad that’s terrible.” The actor took all his kids to The Unchartered Premiere and they liked it however they wondered why he wasn’t the main character.
It’s safe to say, if and when Mark decides to quit acting he can lean back on his rapping talents and make a living. His kids might not like the idea of their dad being a rapper but it’s worth giving a try again.
