Ben Affleck proposed to the pop diva Jennifer Lopez for the second time, giving her an 8.5-carat green diamond. However, Jennifer recently revealed the reason why Ben chose a green engagement ring for her.
The couple has a history with colorful jewels, for example, Affleck’s gift of a 6.1-carat pink Harry Winston ring in 2002. However, the significance of this new stone appears to be considerably greater than the previous one. In a video posted on her “On the JLo” newsletter on Tuesday, the “Marry Me” diva told fans:
“[Green is] my favorite color; it’s also my lucky color. Obviously, it’ll be my lucky color forever now. It means so much when somebody thinks about you and loves you and sees you. And it was just the most perfect moment.”
In a previous newsletter, the triple threat stated:
“I always say the color green is my lucky color. I’ve realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green.”
After the news of the couple’s second engagement surfaced, Diamond Pro CEO Mike Fried told Page Six Style “If that is indeed a green diamond, then I am stunned. A green diamond of that size is incredibly rare and would dwarf the value of their previous engagement ring. I would value the ring well over $5 million and could be worth more than $10 million.”
That ring appears to be quite opulent. However, Lopez also claimed in her most recent newsletter that she was enjoying a bubble bath when Affleck, her “beautiful love,” got down on one knee.
