The Rock Considered A Serious U.S. Presidential Contender By Former White House Chief Of Staff

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson needs no introduction when it comes to the pro wrestling world as he is still regarded as one of the all-time greats. He is also a dominant force in Hollywood and brings huge star power to any film he acts in. Mick Mulvaney, the former White House Chief of Staff, recently compared The Rock to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump himself; this put The Rock in a league with political heavy-hitters as well.

Mick Mulvaney believes the Rock is cooking up a lot more than he’s been revealing. Mulvaney, who served as President Trump’s chief of staff for over a year in 2019 and 2020, believes The Rock would be a credible contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

For years, Johnson has publicly flirted with the prospect of running for office, but he has never stated his support for any political party. He’s had ties to Republican campaigns and events in the past, but he formally endorsed the Biden/Harris ticket in 2022, calling himself a “political independent and centrist” in his endorsement statement.

But Mulvaney appeared convinced that if Johnson ran for president, he would not only break red, but also pose a real threat to both Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Trump himself. Speaking with Politico in an item published by Playbook, former Trump Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney remarked while evaluating the prospective GOP field.

[Gov. Ron] DeSantis could give [Trump] a run for his money. [Sen.] Tim Scott [R-SC] can give him a run for his money. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson could give him a run for his money.

Johnson’s political ambitions have appeared to be only humorous half-stunts in the past. Just like the Tom Hanks/Dwayne Johnson 2020 ticket announcement on SNL, there have been flashes of serious intent over the years. He told GQ in 2017 that running for office was a serious possibility. Only time will tell how The Great One decides to surprise everyone.
